An investigation of Germany‘s energy transition, examining risks of grid instability and potential blackouts as coal is phased out.
The phaseout of coal is a done deal. Large power plants will gradually be taken off the grid in the coming decades and replaced by solar and wind power. But this could jeopardize the stability of the power suppl y. In the worst case, there is a risk of a blackout. The film presents current flagship projects of the energy transition, from the largest solar and battery park to future hydrogen storage facilities to make the transition possible and raises the urgency for politicians and companies to act, to meet the climate goals.
