A hybrid documentary-animation project following refugees across Africa and the Mediterranean, supplemented with interactive online components.

Germany, 2016: After an eventful summer of refugees (Merkel: We can do it!), Germany finds itself facing a daily reality that is less about open arms and more about realistic solutions. The transmedia project “Tahrib – The Infinite Journey” begins with refugees in East Africa. In Kenya and Niger, the documentary follows people who still have the greatest challenges ahead of them: crossing the Sahara and traveling across the Mediterranean. In Libya, it accompanies people who face a hellish reality behind bars. In Israel, the refugees live in a kind of limbo, unable to arrive and unable to move on. Finally, Tharib encounters refugees in Istanbul, shortly before they make the leap to Europe. The protagonists are united by their doubts as to whether this is the right path. In the end, they end up stranded in Greece.
